Forge Crew Helper-Rockford

Forge Resources Group, a leader in custom short-run steel forgings, is searching for a Forge Crew Helper to join our Rockford, IL production facility.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 6 – 12 months forging or other heavy manufacturing experience

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Follows directions of Upset Operator or Supervisor, as a member of a crew
• Assists in performing all operations, including die change set-ups according to established procedures
• Loads steel billets onto the apron of the forge furnace
• Monitors billet heating process and regulates furnace temperature to assure adequate supply of billets are always heated to appropriate level
• Uses 36” to 60” tongs to handle billets going into and out of furnace
• Removes heated billets from furnace and places at upsetter
• Notifies Upset Operator or Supervisor of any problems affecting production
• Operates trim presses with various tooling such as trimmers, punches, tong holds, etc.
• Maintains forging unit area in a neat and orderly manner
• Operates fork lift equipment as necessary
• Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Continuous Standing
• Continuous tolerance of high heat environment
• Frequent unassisted lifting up to 50 pounds
• Frequent grasping and gripping with both hands
• Frequent pushing / pulling / twisting / turning with upper body while holding parts or tools
• Occasional arm / shoulder swinging movement of sledgehammer weighing 20#
• Occasional unassisted lifting over 50 pounds

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED preferred
